Pure Comedy
Father John Misty - 2017
Josh Tillman may not have topped his 2015 masterpiece, "I Love You, Honeybear", but he made one hell of an album. On Pure Comedy Tillman is full on 70's Elton John, with his social commentary, wit, sarcasm, and brilliant word play. It harkens back to the days when the deep cuts on an album were where the real meat was. His lyrics bring his take on fame, religion, technology, death, etc. in his own unique way. The singles are all great, but the album continues to reward the listener as you delve deep into it again and again.
