Lily Allen - 2018
Easily, No Shame is Lily Allen's greatest moment as an artist, and there's a sense that she is finally realizing her potential as a singer. Whereas her previous albums relied on the music to carry her, it is Allen's voice that stands out and above the assorted and eclectic grooves that run beneath it. Which is saying something, as the tracks are her finest to date. As an album, it seems very much split into three parts, with tracks 1-4 being dirtied up, tracks 5-10 being more emotive, and tracks 11-14 being feel good in tone (though also being bit too much like her previous songs from past albums). What this means is that the album sounds like a complete story is being told, though in reverse by sterotypical story standards. Regardless, it's unique, grimey at times, particualry emotional at others, and most importantly, ushers the true Lily Allen onto the stage at last.
