Kendrick Lamar - 2012

Following up his ridiculously good album Section.80, in which he hoped to become the "voice of his generation", Compton rapper Kendrick Lamar followed up Section.80 with one of the best albums of the decade, and one of the great concept albums in hip-hop history, good kid, m.A.A.d city. It's an album that keeps the quality of music very, very high while not overwhelming the listener with the concept, two things that are rarely achieved while listening to a concept album. Sonically, it's diverse, the features are great, and while Kendrick himself has only topped himself this year with features such as on Big Sean's epic Control or Pusha T's menacing Nosetalgia, he's never been as focussed or deep as he's been on this album. An essential for any hip-hop, hell, any music fan. Favorite songs: All Least Favorite songs: Sherane (If I Had To Choose) Most overrated song: Poetic Justice most underrated song: Backseat Freestyle.
